Board Certification

Founded in 1994, The American Board of Orofacial Pain (ABOP) was established in response to a need for a valid certification process for dentists practicing Orofacial Pain Management. The ABOP currently holds its examinations yearly in conjunction with the American Academy of Orofacial Pain’s Annual Conference. ABOP is the only Orofacial Pain specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association.

The Board’s mission is to enhance the quality of care and service provided to the public through certification of dentists in the field of Orofacial Pain.

Dr Chandwani is one of the three board certified orofacial pain specialists in Connecticut (the other two are Dr. Seema Kurup and Dr. Bruce Sofferman). In New York state, there are 20 board certified Orofacial Pain specialists. You can search for a specialist close to you using this link.

Board Certification represents Dr. Chandwani’s commitment to the highest level of orofacial pain management through residency training in the specialty, followed by extensive testing and evaluation by one’s peers to achieve certification.
