TMJ Specialist New York

About Me

Hello! I have had a fascinating journey in healthcare since the nineties when I underwent my dental training in India. I practiced general dentistry for a few years before starting my residency in Orofacial Pain at Tufts University. I was lucky to have been trained by some of the best in the field. It started my journey into facial pain, TMJ disorders and sleep disorders. Teaching at Tufts and undergoing the Acupuncture program at Harvard Medical School made my passion stronger.

Apart from my private practice, I spend one day per week at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx where I coach the post graduate dental residents in different aspects of Orofacial Pain. I find that I am always improving my knowledge as well as understanding of the complex conditions when I am teaching them to my residents. I love being a part of the Academy of Orofacial Pain as well as the American Dental Association.

THE DIFFERENCE

COMPREHENSIVE: Ok, that is not a difference as a lot of health care providers do tend to be comprehensive in their assessment but this is a valuable quality that Dr. Chandwani prides himself in.

TEAMWORK: The assessment and the treatment plan is a teamwork between you and Dr. Chandwani. In TMJ disorders and facial pain, there could be a variety of treatment modalities that are effective. We would provide you with a candid opinion regarding the diagnosis as well as treatment plans. Lastly, Dr. Chandwani often thinks out loud and discusses pros and cons of treatments before jumping into a specific treatment. An informed decision is the best decision!

ACUPUNCTURE: It is fascinating that Traditional Chinese Medicine had an answer to simple and complex medical conditions more than 3000 years ago.
