About Me

Hello! I’ve had a fascinating journey in healthcare since the 1990s when I underwent my dental training in India. I practiced general dentistry before starting my residency in Orofacial Pain at Tufts University. I’m lucky to have been trained by some of the best in the field — that’s what started my journey into facial pain, TMJ disorders, and sleep disorders. Teaching at Tufts and undergoing the Acupuncture program at Harvard Medical School strengthened my passion for treating pain.

Apart from my private practice, I spend one day/week at St. Barnabas Hospital in The Bronx where I coach the postgraduate dental residents in different aspects of Orofacial Pain. I find that I’m always learning more, as well as gaining a greater understanding of the complex conditions when I teach.

I love being a part of the Academy of Orofacial Pain as well as the American Dental Association.

The Chandwani Difference

COMPREHENSIVE: I pride myself on being as comprehensive as possible.. Yes, this is something other doctors provide, but it’s something I always strive for.

TEAMWORK: I like to think of the assessment and treatment plan as a collaboration. In TMJ disorders and facial pain, there are a variety of treatment modalities that are effective. I’ll provide you with a candid opinion regarding the diagnosis as well as treatment plans. I often think out loud and discuss the pros and cons of treatments before jumping into a specific treatment. An informed decision is the best decision!

ACUPUNCTURE: Chinese medicine had an answer to simple and complex medical conditions more than 3,000 years ago. I find that fascinating.
